The Friends of the Garden is a group of volunteers who want to work in the garden, but do not necessarily want to have a garden bed of their own. They would like to get their “hands dirty”, so to speak, from time to time. They are also very civic minded. They meet on the first Saturday morning of the month to help with a variety of garden tasks. We started the 2024 season on April 6 with 15 volunteers that included some of the Riverhead High School Key Club members. Garden tasks included raking, sowing seeds for the pantry beds, potting up canna bulbs, planting peas in the perimeter, digging up irises. and turning over cover crops. Everything completed in less than 2 hours!!
